Double Hoist Cranes
Hi, On a simulation project we have been asked to look at planned equipment procurement and simulate the terminals future capacity. Is it possible to simulate Tandem lift 2x40' (double hoist) cranes yet please as this is one of the options they want to look at?
I've already looked into doing it by working out productivity of a dual hoist crane seperately and then using a Time per move approach in the CT model, but have been told that this doesn't really match their requirements and they want to use real crane speeds and view the animation correctly. My other idea was to double the number of cranes and slow the speeds by a factor to mirror the dual hoists but I think this might also be unacceptable to them. Are there any other ways / better ways, ideas to simulate this please? Thank you, James |

I think you may create another spreader under attribute "drawsurrogate". When loading or discharging a container, you need to figure out the kinematics of second spreader. In the same time that the quay crane is loading and discharge, you draw another box under the second spread in ondraw trigger. This is a kind of cheating, and you also need extra work to make sure productivity is right.
