error License Activation
In the last runtime of Flexsim 4.3 it is not possible to use the option License Activation. From the start-menu of Windows, an error pops up or nothing at all happens. If I change the version code manually, it works.

Sounds like a messed up installation. I know several users ran into troubles when they kept a copy of the previous version of Flexsim around by simply renaming the directory, and then installing v4.3. The savest thing to do if you want to keep a copy of older versions of Flexsim around, is to make a copy of the entire Flexsim4 directory and move the duplicate directory out of Program Files and put it somewhere else. Then install v4.3 over the top of the original Flexsim4 directory.
To correct your current installation situation, you may have to uninstall, clear out the problem Flexsim4 directory, and then reinstall fresh. |

Exactly the same problem
I had exactly the same problem Lolke explained a couple of days ago. This was the first installation of Flexsim to the user's computer, so Cliff's explanation is not valid in this case.
(After several uninstall / install / get another setup file loops and) after talking to Brenton from Flexsim support, we concluded that Lolke's suggestion in this note is to manually change "userid.txt" file in the "C:\Program Files\Flexsim4\program" folder. In this case that file had been blank before I changed it. After the update, "flexsimuser.exe" continues to give "windows has encountered an error" screen, but at least the application runs. Any ideas why? Thanks, GY |

This is the email I got back from Anthony Johnson on this subject.
" I've found the bug. The license activation throws an exception if userid.txt is empty, which is the default when installing 4.3 (yeah, that's not good). In 4.01 I don't think it installed userid.txt, and the bug doesn't happen if userid.txt doesn't exist. I don't know why we decided to install userid.txt with the install, because it's created automatically when you activate the license. Anyway, I'll fix the activation. But if you get issues like this again, you can either delete the userid.txt file, then run the activation, or fill in userid.txt manually. " I hope this will help until Anthony is able to fix it in the next release. |
