A simulation model for emergency evacuation time and low-cost improvements
Project:*A simulation model for emergency evacuation time and low-cost improvements.
Location:*Krakow, Centre of Addiction Therapy Summary: How much time will take evacuation depending on different time frames during the day and what low-cost improvements can be made to shorten evacuation time Measurements : • door width; • corridor width; • staircase and railing width; • location of potential obstacles, their width and the narrowing of the corridors. • Number and location of patients, medical staff and administration at a given moment in time Simulating: • Five scenarios (night time, early morning, late morning and midday, afternoon, evening) • Pauls and Helbings models for simulating evacuation dynamics • Before and after low-cost improvements (changes in evacuation protocol, removing obstacles etc.) Additional Info: We are considering organize evacuation event in reality engaging students in this hospital facility. Comparison of the results might enlarge science value of this project. Future work: Creating models for emergency evacuation of other buildings in this hospital complex. Related publications: 1. Thanks Jörg,
Flexsim Person flow looks very interesting. I think it's worth checking out, but in this particular project we focused on evacuation protocol (how personnel should lead patients out and etc.). Dawid |
