Default Wierd operation at yard betwen two calls

The vessel calls the port, but then when it leaves the port I see that there are container repositioning and shuffleing taking place in the yard.

As the documentation as far as I can understand remains quiet about this, i wodner what is that oepration? is ther anyway to stop it or control it?

Any comment aprpeciate.
Is there any richer documentation for the end user?

To me seems like the developpers of FleximCt have made some warning and error messages for their own use rather than the end-user use? is that correct?

If there is repositioning or shuffling in your yard, you probably added Yard Operations (tab in the Yard Planner). There are documented in the CT Help Manual in the section Planners > Yard Planner > Yard Operations. You can stop it or control it on the Yard Operations tab of the Yard Planner.

There are many error messages that are directed at the end user that signify that they entered information incorrectly. Additionally, exceptions are caught by the program to prevent crashing under unexpected circumstances. These exceptions print messages to the system console and are designed for the developers to figure out where the problem happened. These are usually caused by unexpected combinations of inputs from the user that are outside of the bounds of expected input. Ideally, these bounds can be checked and avoided, but it takes time to debug and fix these issues. It is difficult to anticipate every possible action that a user might do.

Thank you for the conmmetn. But in that particular example there is no operations being scheduled in "yard operations". even if I create a set of operations and assign the proper resources still the operations is done magically without using the resources I have introduced, at least in the visual presentation (see attachment).

Once again, it is hard to tell you what is happening when you don't attach the model.

What you are seeing is not "repositioning and shuffling" in the yard. You are seeing containers leaving the yard and other containers coming to the yard. Your containers come from the ship to the yard (and then disappear after an abstract dwell time as if they had gone out a gate/rail), and your containers come from the yard (appearing a certain dwelltime before they need to go out an on a ship as if they had come in through a gate/rail) to the ship.

This is the correct behavior. See the CT manual section Getting Started > CT Modeling Paradigm. Particularly note the "Using Abstractions" section.

Thanks for the reply.
well, I think I can understand this part but what about those operations which are scheduled? do you see any where between two calls from vessels the container being repositioned inside terminal from e.g import stack 2 to export stack 2 using transporters? as i hahev set parameter for them.
If we accept that the current observation is what you mantioned what baout those that I scheduled ? where are they?

The first problem is that you are specifying "All" to "All" in your yard operations. This will cause it to not do anything because it doesn't what know types of containers it should be moving. If it moved every container, then the containers would just keep getting moved around in the yard instead of ending up at their ultimate destination. For this reason, you have to specify something in either the From, the To, or both.

If you do specify something, then you may still have issues because your Block Assignments are already putting exports (to ship) into the exports blocks and imports (from ship) into the imports blocks. Thus, the yard operations have nothing to do because the containers are already where they should be.

may I know what is the solution for this?

Excuse my mistake in the above post: I think the "All to All" limitation no longer applies in this version of CT. In this model, you only need to change the start times for your yard operations so that they happen properly. In this model, there weren't containers that need moved when the yard operations started so nothing happened.

I have modified your yard operations so that they move everything from the import area to the export area once the ship leaves.

Thanks for your comments.
DO you probably know why I cannot open the project in the latest CT version? because it says it cannot find the CT library and it needs thiat. Could it be that you are using a different version?

regards,

If it won't open, then you are probably using CT 3.0 instead of CT 3.0.2. You should update to the latest version (3.0.2).

Default instability in performance

I am experiencing some instability:

1. sometime the CT library cannot be loaded when opening a project
2. the same model which has been performing the relocation by moving trabnsporters etc is no longer doing that.

I made exact one single relocation task as the from import1 to export 1 but it just does not act the sme ways as your does. It did for the first time and never again.

1. I don't understand what you are saying here. Open CT. Then open a CT model in it.

2. This model is behaving exactly as expected on my machine. I don't think there is any more I can tell you about this model than what I have already explained. Maybe someone else will chime in if you have further questions about this.
