Converting 3D shapes from Autodesk Inventor (.iam) to 3ds
Hello,
I have several 3D shapes built with Autodesk Inventor (.iam). How can I convert them for Flexsim (.3ds or .wrl)? thanks for your help. Clément Schaller. |

Clement,
I use a software called Polytrans (www.okino.com) which converts more or less all better known graphics formats. But you need to make sure you add the converter pack including the CAD format you would need to convert from. As far as I remember it needs to be the CAD Pack for inventor files... Here's the link to check what AddOn you would need: http://www.okino.com/conv/filefrmt_cad.htm Good luck! Ralf Flexsim USA Flexsim Germany |

Ralf,
Tanks for your answer. I've installed PolyTrans, I can open the inventor file but when I export it in 3ds, every 5th polygone is not exported. You are using the commercial version of PolyTrans ? best regards, Clément. |

Clement,
Yes I bought the commercial version. The "feature" you mentioned is to prevent using the demo in a professional manner. Good Luck Ralf Flexsim USA Flexsim Germany |
