Releasing to a Combiner
Hi,
I have a number of reserviors connected to a combiner which are not all pulled from all of the time. I already update the combiners list on entry and this works , however, at what appear to be random intervals the combiner will take an item from a port which on it's target quantity list has a zero. This ultimately causes the model to crash as I get an invalid node message. Any ideas ???? |

Hi Alistair,
when you update your combiner on the entrytrigger, do you also update the node targetcomponentsum in the combiner? If the sum in your list differs in each case I guess you also have to do this. But without a modell I can just guess that this might be the problem...

I'll have to have a look at this and let you know, as for the model I might not be able to put it up on here due to company policy and protection of our products. Thanks for pointing me in one direction...................... Alistair Update: I have checked and I am using the standard trigger which does seem to update the targetcomponentsum, but with my limited knowledge I don't know what this means and what effect it has? Does it matter that the combiner I am having issues with is not only fed by reserviors but also by two combiners? I am using a seperate source to go through port 1 and set the component list from a global table. Last edited by Alistair Smitheman; 05-14-2009 at 02:50 AM. Reason: Followed up on Nico's advice |

Hi Alistair,
If you are using the standard trigger Update Combiner Component List in the combiner then the targetcomponemtsum is updated. It is very hard without a model to be able to see what happens. Can you do a model with only the source, combiner, reserviors and the two combiners? Strip down your model only to the area you have problem. Run this model and see if you still have the same problem. Are you using pull logic in the combiner you have problem? It would be good if you could upload the striped model here, then it is easier to help you. Lars-Olof |

Model
Lars-Olof,
Here's the model as it stands, due to the relationship between all of the items I don't want to strip it out too much as this could upset other parts of the setup. I've used the standard 3d shapes as otherwise I would have to upload all of our own shapes. Thanks Alistair |

Sorry, my minds not what it used to be.
The combiner in question is Mix1 and the "leaking" reserviors are HRA_Bag Malic_Acid_Bag and Retarden_P_Bag. Alistair |
