Default Flexsim vs Tecnomatix (Siemens PLM)

Hi Guys,

did someone already use Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (http://www.plm.automation.siemens.co...gn/index.shtml)
and has an idea about the advantage of Flexsim compared to Tecnomatix (like the thread about Flexsim vs Witness) ?

Thanks,

Simon

Hi Simon,

In the year 2005 we were testing several material flow simulation packages to use a newer one than taylor 4.2. Today plant simulation is still a 2D simulation tool. The different Owners of the software house have improved the 3D animation, but the best way is building your model in 2D. Especially the modeling of warehouse, rack and other 3D storage systems is in 2D difficult.
Beside this, the time you need to build your plant functionality is exact the time to build your 3D animation. Though you are building your model twice.
The script language is object orientated. So it is easier to update similiar objects in your model. In contrast to this is the use of transports, workers or vehicles difficult. You have to write your own code for simple tasks, e.g load and unload. Or you have to use standard modeling methods, which are unflexible to custom solutions.
But some of the diagnostic tools i'm still missing in flexsim too: the sankey diagramm in the model for example.

May this be a start for your comparison.

Jörg

Simon,

you should ask Maurizio from Flexcon (Italy) for some remarks since he has worked for Tecnomatix before he started with Flexsim. Also Jason from Saker Solutions (UK) comes from Tecnomatix and may help you.
