Default Sample_Database_TD

I just uploaded a small database sample model which shows how to connect Flexsim with a database. I hope this helps some people.

I also started to update all the models I posted so far to v4.32, which is quite some work. Sometimes I really ask myself why do I upload all these models, take the time to update and upload them, share my work and ideas even if I do not get a lot of feedback.
I was hoping that some people will tell what could be done better in the models, what other ideas and suggestions they have, etc. Maybe I am just to naïve.
Anyway it would be nice if more people would share their little models and ideas for different model concept.

Please do not get me wrong. I know that this is the way a community works (most members are passive and only a few are really active) and that you should never expect anything. Compared with other communities the Flexsim community is really active and I never saw such an active community for another simulation package. But as always, it could be even better.

Thanks for listening and be sure that I will post more models …

Tom,

I think that one of the problems you might be having with feedback might be a result of posting the models in the downloads section and not in a post like this. To me it feels like the download section is the dark room in the back that people rarely go into. The comments there don't seem to show up and get attention like a new post does and there is no way that I can see to add a thanks or add to your reputation. I can see that adding a new post might tend to clutter things up a bit but what else is the solution?

What are your thoughts?
Brandon

Brandon,

I do not agree that it is a good idea to have the download section in the threads, because than they are difficult to find. So would be better to post them in the download section and make a link in the threads.

I totally agree with you that the download section is not the right place to get feedback it is more or less hidden, etc.

That’s exactly why I asked some months ago if it would not be a good idea to have one category in the forum for threads about downloads (discussion in the moderators section).
At this point in time the opinion was that this is not necessary, which frustrated me. But a decision is a decision and I said, okay, I have to live with it. This really decreases my motivation to post even more models than I already did. And I am sure that I post the most own models so far.

I really did not like to start this thread because I was not sure where to put it (and I am a moderator). So if we would have a category maybe called Downloads that would be the right place.
Than I can make everyone aware of new uploads by just starting a thread in this section. This would also give other the chance to give feedback, etc.
You can read all my arguments and the discussion in the moderators thread “Forum for Downloads” and which also is related in my eyes is “Unapproved Downloads”.

Maybe it is not a really good idea from me to put this in this public place, but I think we should find a good solution which suites everybody. And maybe at this place here we will get some more opinions and ideas.

My suggestion would be to have under Flexsim Software one category which is called Downloads.

Anyway I hope I did not offend anyone with this post but I am really looking forward to have a nice solution and hopefully this encourage more people to upload their models.
