GUI Trick
Here's a little puzzle in the OnPress of a button.
For those who are clever with Flexscript coding and/or logical reasoning: After you solve the riddle, it displays a messagebox with a number answer. Are you Flexsim-clever? What is the number answer? |

Phil,
Nice. It was easier to figure out by logically than it was to figure out in your cryptic code.

Good puzzle. Good start of the day It took me some time to find out what the idea of the puzzle was... Am I a member of the flexscript nerds now? |

Great idea, Phil, thanks.
I agree with Lolke, it took me some time to figure out what the idea of the puzzle was … maybe this was the puzzle … I am still not sure if I understand it right … Anyway, I am not sure if my solution is correct, but I tried to solve it with code and with logic. And now I get a result. I guess it is more interesting to find out how people solved it and not the result itself. Am I a member of the flexscript nerds now, too?

At the first try I had to shut off Flexsim completely to get out...
Then I made the code more readable by adding lines and spaces. And then when I started reading the code, I found out what the idea was. The actual number I got by trying instead of reading the code |

Tried it, solved it, liked it!
Steven Althoug I don't agree with the answer! Last edited by Steven Hamoen; 07-02-2008 at 11:37 AM. |

Yeah, I agree with Steven. Shouldn't the answer to all these types of puzzles be 42? Then the real puzzle will be figuring out the question .

It took me way to long to figure this #&$@! thing out. You're a very clever guy Phil. You introduced me to a whole new world of LEET i.e. (1337) speak and "confuscated code" I wasn't aware of when I tried to cheat and Googled your "ID10T" error message. Pretty funny!
I feel I may still be missing something though in Anthony's 42 remark because that's not the answer I came up with. By the way, I did the math first after figuring out the code, and then ran the push button test to verify. I'm "proud" to say I only crashed (or at least thought I had crashed) Flexsim 3 times! Now back to work on the new Healthcare library... If I'm late for my presentation to Microsoft, you're in trouble Phil. |

"42" is a reference from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The answer to my puzzle isn't 42 though. If I had thought of that, I probably would have made it that way. The answer to my puzzle is a number that I've tacked onto the end of my gaming username when the name without a number was taken. Last edited by Phil BoBo; 07-02-2008 at 12:48 PM.
