Reputation and Experience points
There are 2 different point systems in the Flexsim Community Forum.
1. Reputation 2. VBExperience I will explain how these work. How they work together and how they work separately. Reputation is earned by having it awarded by other members of the forum. vBExperience is earned as you participate in the forum. You can have a high vBExperience score and a low reputation. Reputation When you join the board you get 10 points of reputation. Additional reputation comes from other members and by the number of post you make and how long you are a member. Points you get just for being here 10 points when you join. 1 point for every 90 days on the board Points you get from others If a person really likes your post the can press the reputation button in the upper right of the post window When you press this button you can agree(positive rep) or disagree (negative rep). Then leave a message of why you approve or disapprove. The amount of reputation (positive or negative) depends on your own reputation power. The more you have the more points will be awarded. The most that can be awarded is 10 points. This value is calculated based off a 100 points of reputation you have. For example if you have 300 rep points the most reputation you can give someone is 3 points. That means you have to have at least 100 points to give any reputation points. So as your reputation grows you can award more reputation to others. You must award 5 different people reputation before you can award the same person reputation again. You can only give 10 people reputation each day. Reputation is shown by the number of green boxes on the right side of the post header. Reputation will grow over time and is awarded by members on the forum who appreciate your contributions. vBExperience vBExperience are points you get for being active on the forum. You earn points as you participate. Here is how you earn points. (There are others as well, but these are the main ones. 1 point for ever reputation point you earn 5 points if you for every time you use the reputation system defined above 1 points for every day you log into the forum 20 point for every referral you have. (send someone registers they put your name as the referrer) 10 points for every thread you start 10 points for every poll you vote in 10 points if the moderators "stick"a thread you start. 2 points for every post. 10 points for every "thanks" you get on a post 2 points for thanking some for a post As you participate in the forums you will earn vBExperience points. Activity % is the amount of time you spend on the board each day compared to the most active person on the board. If everyone were to spend 1 hour a day on the board then all would have 100% activity. The problem is that Cliff spends way to much time on the board so everyone else's activity is low. That is the way is should be. So there you have it. I will take questions now. Last edited by Bill Nordgren; 04-30-2008 at 01:07 PM. |

Bill,
I think that the minimum for adding experience to someone should be lowered to 10. This way everyone can have at least a minor effect. It's very hard to gain experience by being helpfull because so few people can actually give any to you right now (around 8). This leaves the fastest way to get experience as just posting a bunch of meaningless posts that annoy people.
