Global Table Number Precision
Hi,
When a number is imported to a global table, the value seems to rounded to two decimal point. In other words, a very small fraction number like 0.0001 turns out to be 0.00 in the table. Is there a way to increase the precision so that the number can be shown correctly? Thanks for help in advance. I use 4.3. |

Increasing the number precision for the model as a whole will also increase the number precision for the global tables. To do this go to the "Edit" menu and select the "Set Number Precision" option and then fill in the value that you want.
Good Luck, Brandon

Displayed number precision versus stored number precision
Incidentally, the full number of digits as allowed by a "double precision" variable are stored internally for the table or any other node for that matter. When you "Set Number Precision" through the Edit menu, you are simply changing the visual display of numbers and not their underlying number of significant digits. The problem might arise when you are viewing a numeric value and happen to update it (which can happen easily for tabular values because they are hotlinked and can get updated when the table view is refreshed). In this case the underlying node value will be updated per the displayed value and the number 0.0001 may be changed to 0.00!

This option unfortunately will set all numbers in the model displayed 4 digits since it is a global setting. I wish there is an "number precision" attribute associated with each GUI control to overwrite the global setting locally.

Thanks Cliff. I actually tried to do that. But I did not find the list and later I found the web address is changed. Next time I will.

Alan,
I'm assuming you found the list now, but for others who might be searching... Here is the thread http://www.flexsim.com/community/for...read.php?t=336 on this community forum that talks about the development list This is the address that takes you directly to the development list https://account.flexsim.com/downloadsdevlist/, but you will have to be logged in first to the User Login area of the flexsim.com for it to work. This is why I told everything to go to the flexsim.com website, click on the User Login link in top right of the home page, log in, and you will see a link to the development list shown in the small panel on the left of the screen. By the way, the Development List editor has been improved so that it accepts special characters and doesn't insert extra lines. Cliff |
