Default How to connect a sink and a source

Hello everyone,

As you can see in the picture, i have my sink 50 connected to my source 52 but they are not communicating, in my simulation my sink receives 44 items however my source is producing 156 items. What i want is that whenever my sink receives an item, my source releases one item too, so at the end i have:the number of items released by source is the same as the number of the items received by my sink.

Greetings,

Ismail BENABICHA

Hi Ismail,

You might want to consider using closeoutput() every time an item leaves your source. Only when the item enters the sink, then you send a message to the source to open its output again.

Hope this can help. Good luck!

Thank you for your answer Hendry, but actually i'm a beginner on flexsim and i don't know how to use a closeoutput() and send a message to the source, if you can explain it to me or if you have an illustration that explains it that would be very helpful. Thank you!

Hi Ismail,

1. Go to source -> under 'trigger' tab -> OnExit -> closed and open port -> closeoutput
2. Use 'S' key to make central connection between source and the sink.
3. Go to sink -> under 'trigger' tab -> OnEntry -> send message to the source (centerobject)
4. Go to source -> under 'trigger' tab -> OnMessage -> conditionally open and close port -> openoutput.

Hopefully these steps can help building your model.
