Doubt with breakdowns
Hi All,
One of my friend got a model to be fixed. The model has like 3 processors with operators(used for processing). The model is simple(a restaurant like model in which people comes to through the processors and operators serves them). At times the processors needs to breakdown. When they go to breakdown the operators need to go to service station to pick up things and come back to processors. How should I achieve this? I am attaching the model here for reference. Any help is appreciated Thanks!! |

Hi Sandy,
if a fixed resource gets into a breakdown state, the associated operator team receive a new tasksequence just to wait as long as the breakdown last. That is standard in Flexsim. If the operator team do something else then wait, you have to change the tasksequence or build new one. That is something you can do, if you have some experience in writing new source code. Much easier is in my opinion a different approach than the standard. Just save the probably repair time into a label. The operator team has to get something else to do. You can build a sub model wherein other flowitems are processed and transported sometimes by operators. Each time a breakdown occurs your sub-model generates an item which has to be picked up and transported in the near of the broken processor. There the operator places the flowitem to a fixed resource in your sub-model e.g. a processor and work on the flowitem just as long as the breakdown still last. To draw the operators away from the processor ( table) the new work has to be of a preempting type and has to be of a higher priority than the work at the table. Jörg |
