Default combiner - different maximum content

Hi all,

I'm quite new to FlexSim and may be asking several question in the upcoming weeks. Today I'd be pleased if you could help me with some information on the use of a combiner.

As FlexSim crashes when i attempt to save any model i can't upload what I've got. The model contains two sources, a queue and a combiner. the first source is creating totes, while the second one is creating three kinds of cylinders (also different amount). the cylinders have different labels and colors and are being created using an arrival sequence.
Now my aim is, that the combiner will take a tote and pack a defined amount of cylinder (type/label 1) in it. then it should take the next tote and pack a different amount of cylinders (type/label 2) in it.

I found a solution using various input ports and adjusting the max. content for each port. BUT: is it possible to have only on input port (source 2 in our case) and maybe a global table to achieve different max. contents depending on the label of the item type???

thx for your ideas/help

Martin

Have you tried to connect the source twice with the combiner?
The Items form port 1 define by their itemtype which amount of products are collected from the second connection ("Update Combiner Component List" OnEntry-Trigger Combiner).

You can even use more than two connections. In the OnExit trigger of the source you can change the attributes of the outgoing item dependent on its output port.
