Exploratory Simulation, a Case Study - Updated 03/2014
One of the questions that frequently arises is, "Is there a process or procedure you'd recommend for the initial evaluation of a situation using simulation?" In fact, there is and I call it "Exploratory Simulation." The attached model of an Imaging Clinic and its accompanying write-up, shows how one activity investigated a single operational day in the clinic to determine whether manpower, room usage, patient waiting time and clinic census, should be evaluated for alternative methods of managing their patient load. At the end of the paper, there is also an explanation of how to run individual and multiple scenarios to examine the model even further!
