Default Animation Creator

Hello,

I have worked a little bit now with the animation creator and I am starting to like it! But I have some questions:

It seems not possible to use the startanimation() function from the script window? If I use msg I can get the animation to work, but I can't test it using the script window (nothing happens). How do I start an animation from the script window?

Is there a command available to 'reset' the object to the default settings (all animations at time 0)? Now when a animation is stopped while an object is not at the startposition, I have to open the animation creator and reset the animations manually.

Are there (or will there be) any commands available to dynamically modify an animation? For example I want an object to rise to a certain height and the height can be defined by the user. Is there an other way to change this value for the animation? When I look into the tree of the object, it is difficult to make a reference to the correct node, because there are no names in the treestructure under the 'animationinfo/animations/../keyframes/bodies".

Esther,
I don't know why yours isn't working to call startanimation() from a script window. I've created a sample model that seems to work fine, which I'm attaching. It may be that there aren't any events on the event list, so the time doesn't move forward (the startanimation command doesn't create any events on its own).

On the other issues unfortunately there aren't many options right now. This is why we left the "Beta" tag on the animation creator gui, because there are still a lot of things that can and should be improved. We hope to add commands like one to reset the object to its base positions, and one to get/set specific data on animations and their keyframes. Yes, you can technically do it in the tree right now, but as you said, it's difficult to figure out where stuff is. In some future version we'll add a command that lets you manipulate that type of data dynamically.

Hi,

We found a relatively easy way to manipulate movements of (parts of) objects created with the animation creator.
It is possible to use kinematics to manipulate the movements of the objects and this works fine.

Have fun!

We want to show the animation capabilities of Flexsim to some customers. So if anybody has some demomodells with nice animation features I would really apreachiate if you could put those online for downloading.

Nico,

Did you see the

on YouTube?
I just found it and I think it shows another way what is possible to do.

There are other videos on You Tube and I hope some of them are helpful for you. I like the Christmas Videos from Saker Solutions, but there are also some videos more related to production and logistic
(e.g.

).

Okay, these are all not models, but maybe the videos are already helpful.

Yes, I know, that the users in China did not have access to You Tube and we in Germany can not watch videos with music content (which is own by someone who gets GEMA dues) ...

Is the animator proprietary or does it use any industry standard formats?

This comes from a question of "can the animator import animations?"

Thanks

Kenny
