Faciltiy Flow Analysis?

Since I'm still pretty new at using Flexsim I was wondering if it could do facility flow analysis? If I had the information for material movement for a year with the to and from locations defined, would I be able to determine the optimal placement of a storage area within the facility so that I minimized traffic and congestion? If anyone has any thoughts on if Flexsim is able to do this and has any insight on how to do it I'd love to hear about it.

I found a modell which I got from the forum, but could not find again.. so I posted it here again. I did not build the model. Maybe it is a very simple way of doing what you want to do...

Factory Flow (FF) is not event based and therefore cannot model stochastics. I would say work in Factroy Flow until you need an event based tool like FlexSim. FF can get you a an "optimized" layout 90% of the time and it is FAR eaiser to get those in FF.

The onlytime we left FF and went to FlexSim was when there was a reasonable amount of uncertainty in the forcasted demand for parts.

So I took a short look at the Siemens Factory Flow tool.

If you use a network and Transporters, the shortes way between source and destination is choosen automaticaly in Flexsim.
