How have you used and benefited from Flexsim

Down here in Australia, simulation isn't well understood as a discipline. I'm trying to fix that and need some help from the wider Flexsim community, so please share how Flexsim has helped you in your work.

I'm just looking for quick comments like:

• We saved $10,000 on a project
• Flexsim is powerful yet easy to use
• We built a warehouse in 4 days!
• We managed to achieve an efficiency increase of 50%

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me spread the word about Flexsim by contributing to this thread.

Hi Michael, yes, summer is here and I'm enjoying life. Hope you are well and I'd appreciate any help with comments.

We increased the output of an productionline more than 10% only with changing the layout and shorten the travel distances.

We simulated an expansion for a mostly manually operated manufacturing cell.

Benefefits were:
- retrenchment of a manufacturing station
- improved capacity forecast
- improvement of workflow by an optimized layout
- significant reduction of workpiece carriers

ROI was instantly more than 10times the costs caused by the project.

(ok, we all know not all projects are the same, so this was an outstanding cost-benefit example)

Some experiences from projects (should be same for most simulationtools and thatswhy not completly Flexsim specific ):

• found out the maximum output of a complex logistic system (Milkrun etc.)
• utilization of recources with actuall output
• bottlenecks and possible maximum output by reducing these
• ways to higher load factor of trucks, and this way reduced the number of needed trucks
• had a look for better shifttimes in all concerned departments together with timetables could reduce the needed space for storage in intersections
