Question Auto Loading of .skp into Media File Folder

Hi,

I am developing a user library and have used the commands loadthreedobject() with OnModelPreOpen to pre-load a shape file. However, the command only loads .3ds and .wrl extensions and I have quite a few .skp files.

Is there a way that I can have the .skp files loaded into the media file folder upon opening of a user library?

Howe Chiat.

Have you tried loading a skp file? because it might be that the help file is not updated for this command and .skp file import is only available since 5.0

I think a way that always work is to have a list of very simple objects in your library, that have a skp file attached. That way they are loaded.

Hi Steven,

You are right that the simple way works. The media files are automatically loaded which I was not aware of.

Have been trying the command with skp filesin 5.0.4 and it didn't work.

Cheers.

The problem is not that .skp files don't work with loadthreedobject(). The problem is that loadthreedobject() doesn't work in OnModelPreOpen at all (for 3ds, wrl, or skp). If you call it in OnModelOpen, then it works properly.

skp works fine with loadthreedobject(). I will add it to the development list to fix the documentation for that command.
