Default Modeling waiting trucks for being serviced

Hi everybody,

I am kinda confused on how to model the following:
I have a set of transporters which need to be queued up for being served by a server (crane or processor).

This means there are two queues generating the products in boxes which are delivered by transporters to the destination where there is a waiting time before boxes being discharged.

I appreciate any comment on this.

Hello Shahin,

I guess its a bit difficult to understand your problem if you start naming objects as they are in real life and not specify them as their Flexsim "representations".

If you need to queue objects... use a queue.. (maybe explore the option of "Batching") before they are release to the downstream object. This way the queue will accumulate the objects and only release them once they meet the criteria of the "Batch Size".

Now if you need to hold objects for a certain period... why not use a Rack, (explore the option "Dwell time") so the objects will be kept on the rack until they meet a certain time before they can be released.

And now, the Transporters (or any task executor) can be utilized to move (carry) the objects from one place to the next.

In short, you can represent any real life behaviour with a combination of events that meet the characteristics needed.

Good luck

Have a look at the model posted here about setting up a network so that transporters queue.
