Default Visual tools and changing tree positions

Hi all.

I have been working on a rather large model over the last month or so. The last thing I did was to insert a bunch of visual tools to shoiw various statistics. That was when I discovered that visual tools (Screen locked) will be displayed as being behind other objects higher in the tree. I have attached a small model to illustrate this. My first question is this
  • Is there a way to make Visual tools (Screen locked) display on top of objects higher in the tree?

A seemingly simple solution to this problem would be to move the visual tool in question higher up the tree. I tried finding a way to do this, and ended up having to create new empty object at the desired position in the tree, copy the object I wanted to move, insert in the empty spot, delete the original. I also had to go through the affected connections and straighten a few things up in the objects connected to the visual tools. My next question is as follows:
  • Is there an easier way of rearranging the tree structure?

Thanks in advance for any input to this little conundrum of mine.

Hi Christian,

this behavious is discribed in the manual (3D Media > Transparency). You can change the rank of an object in tree with the command setrank(...) or with the GUI "Edit Highlighted Object" or "Edit Selected Objects" (View > Modeling Utilities).

I hope this helps.

greetings

Carsten
