Default Malloc / createcopy

Hi,
I just want to mention that we had some problems in a large modell where the createcopy command was used a lot. Each time a copy is created it is given a new name. So when you make a copy of a copy and so on you get very long names. This does two things:

1. It slows down the modell
2. You get at some point a Malloc error

If you use the createcopy be shure to give the copy a new name.
We replaced the createcopy by a simple source which we opened onMessage.
The modell speeded up about 15X and the Malloc error was gone.

Nico,

You can set the third parameter of the createcopy command to 1 and it will give the copy the same name as the original.

On of the most significant slow downs for a large model is the creation and deletion of flowitems. I am assuming that you were creating flowitems with the command. If this was the case you might want to go to the library and look at how the source does it. This would allow you to recycle flowitems the same way that the source does.

Good Luck,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,
thanks for the tip. I just wanted to give a hint to others who might not take care of the mandoors using the createcopy command, like I did.
To recycle flowitems is for shure an advanced concept I will concider it when I would build a modell with a large number of flowitem movements in and out of the system.
