Default a very short question-- where to download the 3D shape for objects

Hi

I want to change the shape for objects (e.g. change the shape of a processor to a conveyor). I remember in version 3 it's very easy to find the shape files with the software. But where can I find these files in version 4.32?

Hi,

The shapes that is included when you install Flexsim you can found at Flexsim4\fs3d.

You have more shapes if you look under Download - 3D Shapes here at the forum.

Ning,
For custom images I use a very effective and affordable software package by Invis called AC3D. Just make sure after creating the image you export it with the "3ds" extension that will make the image compatible with Flexsim. Hope this helps and best wishes!

The .wrl extension will work better with Flexsim. The .3ds usually works, but .3ds is a proprietary file format with no official specification, and is subject to changes and additions without notice, which means some files could not work with Flexsim. .wrl format, also known as VRML 1.0, is a documented standard, so it is possible to write programs that will read it correctly.

All,

The general rule on 3DS vs WRL files is that 3DS files display much slower in Flexsim. So, it is recommended to use WRL files instead of 3DS files. As to compatibility there have been some issues with both formats but they are relatively far and few between and for the most part not worth worrying about.

Good Luck,
Brandon
