Default How to improve display of large 3D shapes such as floor layouts.

We have the problem that if we use a dxf file as a floor plan on a visual tool, that the drawing jumps back and forth if you click on it or try to pan it etc. It is not clear what movement it exactly is that creates the jump. The drawing jumps a few meters to the side and then you have to click and zoom again to let it jump back.

I was wondering if anybody else has the same experience and if you found a solution?

I've tried in in 4.1 and 4.32 (and in older versions). I've tried putting it on a queue in stead of an visual tool. But that didn't help very much.

Any ideas?

Steven

Steven,

I've seen the same thing in a model that does have a DXF layout on a visual tool. The display can also be distorted in some way. It seems that the problem only happens when a portion of the layout comes into view as you rotate or pan. I can move around other areas of the model without the problem occuring. The strange thing is that it doesn't always happen, and often I can correct it by doing a full compile with the 3D view displaying 'normally'. Does this sound the same to you?

I think it was Jorge that discovered this long ago.

Try moving your scaling values from the Parameters/Properties of the visual tool to the Shape Factors Window. Leave the main SX,SY,SZ : 1,1,1 and press Edit Shape Factors in the Properties and input your scaling values in the shape factor SX,SY,SZ as necessary.
